Jacob Hellings, the youngest child born to his father, was born in Middletown
township,in 1811; he was a farmer in early life, but later went to Bridesburg,
Philadelphia County, where he conducted the old Arsenal Hotel for a period of
twentyyears; he then moved to Philadelphia, and located on Second
street, between Race and Vine streets, and there conducted a hotel a short time.
This proving a failure, as he lost about $100.00 per month, he moved in 1859 to
Middletown Cross Roads, then known as Helling's Cross Roads; he purchased the
tavern located there, and conducted the same until his death, which occurred
Jan 27, 1879. etc. etc.

He was married to Elizabeth Hunter, who was born in this countyin 1814, and they
were blessed by the following children: Lewis J.; Rachel, the wife of William C.
McEuen; Nathan died young; Jacob A.; James P., our subject; and Sarah F.,
the wife of the late Howard Roberts. etc etc.

Mary Ann Hellings.
It says she died on 3 Dec 1849, at the residence of her uncle Nathan in
Middletown, and she was "about 20 years old". This is in the 11 Dec 1849

Also from Chris:
Also, there is a gravestone at the Tullytown Cemetery (among other
descendents of Tunis) for a Mary Ann Hellings, and I remember it was very
hard to read. In my notes, I wrote the death date as Dec1819, but there's
a chance it was 1849. Anyway, the gravestone says her age at death was 21
yrs, 1 mo, 21 days (although this was hard to read also).
