    John Martindale connected with George Fox (who founded the Quaker movement) and landed up in Plymouth, England. He spent time in Exeter prison with Fox and after they
    were free, John left England and went to Holland. He was asked to leave Holland due
    to politics and he found his way to America. Somewhere he met and married Ann
    Tucker. Plymouth John and AnnTucker are the parents of John the Cordwainer.

    The Edward Martindell you mention is the brother to the Watermillock John
    Martindell. According to my data, Edward was born abt. 1633 in Watermillock.
    I believe Edward left Watermillock and landed up in Bristol, a port city, and
    became a shipping merchant and slave trader.

    William Martindale b. Aug. 30, 1723 in Philadelphia co. lived in Bucks co. He wasQuaker.
    In about 1750 or 1751 he married. I have 2 different names for his wife. I need help in
    clearing this up. Some records show him Marrying Martha Merrick b. 1727 in SC dying in
    Bucks Co. and some show him married to a woman named Elizabeth. Possibly last name of
    King in the same year. Yet the chuldren's names appear the same. He did remarry after the
    1st wife died to an Elizabeth Whitely of Lancaster PA. Any help clearing up this marriage
    mix-up would be greatly appreciated, also any
    info on William, his wife or parents John Martindale and Mary Bridgeman. Thank you.
