Notes from Anita Roeckel:
Marriage License application states Philip Derr was born in Schuyl Co, PA on 5
July 1855 and resided in butler TWP, and that by occ was a Laborer. His first
marriage was terminated by the death of his wife. Mary Coch was born in
Cressona, PA 1 December 1864 and resided in Butler TWP, PA and by
occ was a laborer and never married. License issued 31 Mach 1888, Given
and filed 12 May 1888.

OBIT: Pottsville Republican, Pottsville, PA, Friday, 03 December 1937:
"PHILIP DERR

"Philip Derr, 82, one of Gordon's eldest residents, died at his home, Friday
morning, following a week's illness. He was a a resident of Gordon and
vicinity for the past 62 years and was a retired farmer.

"He was a member of the Church of God, of Gordon. To survive he leaves
the following children: Mrs. Joshua Martz, Williamsport; Mrs. Esther Dietz,
Ashland; John, Ashland;Frank, Germanville; Jacob, Frackville and Michael,
Fountain Springs. Sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

"The funeral will be held Monday with interment in the Fountain Spring Cemetery, Kill Brothrs, Ashand have charge."
