- Name Suffix: Senior
Notes:
The baptism of her daughter Esther has god parents as Frederick Hummel
and Magdalena (who is supposed to be a Heffneralso). But is that Magdalena
a sister, or just close cousin? Interesting also is that Heinrich had a daughter
Eva Catharine at about the right time. He seems to be the only one that has
daughters Magdalena and Catharine at this time, and he's also living
in proximity to the Hummel family (and not far from the Derr's).
But, from the book "Family Record of the Descendants of Henry Haeffner",
pg 8, footnoot on Johann Henrich's son Abraham, born 1789, 'He used to speak
about an aunt married a Derr and went up (to Northumberland?) to visither'"

Heinrich married Maria Eva Kelchner, daughter of
Matthais Kelchnerand his wife, on November 28, 1752. He established
himself about one mile south of Virginville, Pa. They were the
parents of six children as recorded in the family Bible. Thomas
Hefner notes that he (Thomas) has a paper with the sealof the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in which it states that Henry was a
soldier in the Revolution. There are others of the Hef(f)ners who
served and one of them, who was captured by the British, having taken
the oath not to take up arms against the British, nonetheless stayed
with the Colonists and helped thecause by driving a supply wagon.
According to http://www.rootsweb.com/~paberks,
"Heinrich Haeffner,
the great-great-grandfather of Franklin D. Heffner. emigrated from
the Palatinate, Wurtemberg, Germany. He was twice married, his second
wife being Maria Eva Kelchner, daughter of Matthaus Kelchner, an
early settler of Richmond township. She bore him two sturdy sons and
four daughters, namely: Johann Heinrich; Hans Georg, born in 1757,
married Maria Hummel, and died in 1818; Eva Catharine; Elizabeth; Eva
Magdalena, and Catharine.
Heinrich Haeffner (Haffner) was a son of
Andreas Haeffner of Eberstadt, Darmstadt, Germany. The latter married
in 1752, and established himself about one milesouth of Virginville,
on the land now owned by Richard G. Trexler. He was probably a
weaver, as he mentioned "den Webstuhl und das Geschirr dazu' in an
agreement with his son Heinrich made April 13, 1784.
