Notes - Much of the information on the Freinscheim records was done by Helmut Schmahl,
Alzeyer Str. 56, 6509 Ober-Florsheim, West Germany. A letter 26 Mar 1988 to
Mrs. Spencer C. Duty of Clevelend OH has translations.
Here is a summary ofthose extensive notes:
pg 275, Andreas SEBASTIAN and Michael SEBASTIAN the younger who both
inherited money from their parents in 1726.
Note that on page 67 of the land record someone made a change of name. When the
record was begun in 1724 it says Daniel SEBASTIAN, and later someone else wrote
with ink of a different colour tone "Wittib' (=widow). This must have happened in
1726. In the churchbook (Lutheran) I find Daniel's death in 1725, unfortunately no
age or exact date are given.
Since Andreas and Michael are both mentioned on p. 275, we can assume they
were brothers.
On p.158 of a book that lists the sales of land in Freinsheim, I find Andreas SEBASTIAN
again. 20 Feb 1728 he is an apprentice at a taylor an dsells land to his master
taylor Johann Michael BURCKHARDT. His guardians are Daniel SEBASTIAN's widow
and Herr Michael SEBASTIAN.
With the help of the Lutheran churchbook we can identify Andreas:baptized 18 Aug 1709
Andreas, son of Johann Daniel SEBASTIAN and Eva Katharina, confirmed in 1722, 13
years old.
So Johann Daniel SEBASTIAN (died 1725) and Eva Katharina (died 5 Jul 1726, 59 years
old) are the parents of Michael SEBASTIAN, the emigrant of 1727. They must
have married before 1696, since their daughter Anna Kattharina married 23 Dec 1718,
George SEIDEMANN and at the time of her confirmation (1710) was 14 years old.
Unfortunately, the books for that time are not longer in existance.
Your ancestor sold his land 13 Nov 1726 to Jost WILLY, Hans George RUTH, citizen,
shoemaker and wife Anna Maria, ...etc, and Herr Michael SEBASTIAN, and finally
18 Apr 1727 to Lorenz HENN. Hissignatures are on all record and you can compare
them with such on the ship list. He arrived 30 Sep 1727 in Philadelphia.
In the records, also Jacob SEBASTIAN of "Bechingen near Landau" (probably
Bockingen) and wife Christina sellthei land 18 Feb 1726 to Thomas BAWEL and others.
I think, he might be a brother of Michael and Andreas.
... (other parts of the letter deal with money for copies, etc.).
