- I highly doubt this is the Johan Michael who came over with Michael
born 1707. Parents didn't rename their children the same name unless the
earlier one had died. (that is, the Johan in Johan Michael is more like a
prefix name thanthe current system with Michael being a middle name. Johan
Michael would go by just Michael in less formal documents...) Still, I'm leaving
them like thisfor now. Was one adopted?? I'd like to see the original church
records to make sure there are no chances of something else.

Church,in my opinion) - this was later reproduced in Floyd's History of Northumberland
County, pg 615, word for word!:
Hartline...(I) John Jacob [sic Michael] Hartlein was born Sept 8, 1699, in Saxony
Germany, son of Nicholas and DorothaHartlein, as indicated by the Hill Church
records. On Sept. 28, 1726, he married Julia, daughter of John Christian and
Appolonia Dressler, born July 4, 1694. They came to America in 1732, and settled in
Earl township, Berks county,Pa. They became the parents of six children, as follows:
John Jacob and Jacob both died young; Margaret, born in 1729, married John___;
George, born 1732;Anna Dorotha, born 1734, died 1736; and Nicholas, born 1736, died 1741.
