Regarding theJacob Wehry who supposedly came from a family in Germany - I've
looked at theevidance and found it wanting. The version I've seen includes
-"immigrantsrecorded on the Saint Andrew Galley were males 16 years of age
or over and this Jacob was 13"
- "Johann Jacob was born 9 December 1724"
- "no record of Johann Jacob leaving Germany has been found"
-"left for Carolina"
I think forinconsistancies found, rather compelling evidance would be required to
overcome these difficulties. Basically, I don't see a reason to doubt that if the ship
list says Jacob was 16 and over, that we should discount that. I propose amore
likely birth year of about 1717. I think we should continue the search for Jacob's parents.
The documentation suggesting connections between the Wehry's and some other
families should also continue to be investigated, but I've found the Baum connection
to also be wanting of evidance as the above.
