      Abstract:
      The Medal of the Jubilee of Liberty was first awarded in 1994 during the 50th
      anniversary observance of the D-Day landings in Normandy. At that time, the
      governor of Normandy authorized the medal be given to any veteran who was
      not able to attend the anniversary observances in France.
