* Baptismal records for eight children of Samuel and Barbara Witmer, "Reformed," are found in the Lutheran churchbook at Herbitzeim between 1718 and 1745. In august 1747 the bilander Vernon arrived in Philadelphia and the name of "Samuel Witmer" appears on the passanger list along with other families from Herbitzheim. Catherina Witmer must havebeen born in Pennsylvania, her baptismal record does not appear in the Herbitzheim churchbook. page 92.
