funny, but I'm only partially convinced that Samuel here is the father of my Philip.
Somewhat based on proximity, etc, but Samuel does have a child Philip at just
the right time andthen shows up in Lower Mahantongo. There does seem
to be a family group going on and some of them go further north up to
Northumberland Co. It's my best guess for now.

I found his wife being a Schmidt, but without source.

I don't know what the "Davely" sponsor is. It doesn't seem to be a real name anywhere.

The Geist Relation, 200 years in America

George Geist was born in Frederick Township, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania,
now Montgomery County, on October 8th,1766. The way the records show this
youngest son was born after the death ofhis father. When he attained the
age of ten years his mother died and all through his life it was nothing but
sad occurrences for this young man. At the age of about twenty-two years
he went into the tannery business with his brother Valentine but it did not
work so well and while in this partnership with his brother he was married
and had one child, then becoming dissatisfied with the tannery partnership
he decided to leave Berks County and go to the wilds of Northumberland
County, where his brothers Andrew and Samuel had gone. The nearest date
we can set for his moving to this wilderness is 1796 and while he followed
the Tulpehocken Trail, he either missed the right direction or deliberately
switched away from this Trail. At the west end of Keffers on top of the
Broad Mountain the Tulpehocken Trail had a branch leading off to the right
and instead of him going straight he turned right bringing him down the
side of this Broad Mountain into the Hegins Valley which he crossed and
came to the Mahantongo Mountain. This he also crossed and came into the
Mahantongo Valley and crossing the the bigger part of this valley he finally
settled to the southwest of now the Howerter's Church. All these names and
places were unknown atthat time and all they knew was the Tulpehocken
Trail. Another sad occurrentce, that he missed the right trail and
had to cross the mountain ranges while the right trail which his brothers
followed pass through the gaps avoiding thecrossing of the mountain ranges.

etc. next wife's name was Ibrig [sic Ihrig]
    etc.

George married Anna Margaretha IHRIG 11 Oct 1796, New Bethel (Zion) Church, Grimville, Greenwich Twp, Berks Co, PA. Anna (daughter of Johann Michael IHRIG and Anna Margaretha LAUTENSCHLAGER) was born Abt 1770, Airlenbach, Erbach, Germany; died Between 1815 and 1830, Upper Mahantongo Twp, Schuylkill Co, PA. Note in Schuylkill County Historical Proceedings, 1908, shows an Assimus Boyer
buying muchof the estate of Henry Boyer of Tulpehocken in 1757 (estate sales records).

I think the only reason for including Samuel as a son of Asimus is that Samuelappears in the tax list while Asimus was the only Boyer in the area. And they
both appear at the Pine Grove churches. Still, it's unsettling to rely on proximity
alone with a common name like Boyer. Perhaps Samuel just moved to the
area... (he's also not in the will)

However - note that in baptism of J Jacob Bayer to Samuel and wf Elisabeth
at Salem, the sponsors are "George Davely(?) and Margret, the father's sister".
So the translator couldn't read the name. But later on is George Kramer
and Margreta, which is the only other George and Margreta there at the time.
If that's the case and George is really George Kramer, then Samuel would
    be in this family.

Christopher Geist, a German mineralogist, went from his native land to
England, and from there was sent to Schwenkville, in Montgomery county, Pa., to
manage or superintend a copper mine which is to this day an old landmark of that
