based on the Howerter's records, I wonder if Charlotte might
be the widow of David Groh (who ironically marrieda Charlotte Herb
11 Dec 1804 in Berks Co)

also, was Sophia the widow of Henrich Mertz?? she also disappears as
a wife of his at about the time Daniel has a wife named Sophia...

Estate records mention children (Orphan's Court April 1845):
(the order appears to be 1. living sons, 2. living daughters, 3 decd daughters, 4. decd sons)
    widow Charlotte

Additional mention of kids is found in Orphan's Court accounting 1:418-420 for
7 Apr 1854. Seems to wrap up the finances and mentions several of theguardians
    of children).

"The Line Mountain Hotel was built by Daniel Herb in 1808 and opened

past have been Daniel Herb, Philip Maurer, Samuel Rothermel, and Isaiah
    Kiehl

Johan married Christina HEYMAN 11 Dec 1792, Schwartzwald Reformed Church, Exeter Twp, Berks Co, PA (Rev Boos). Christina (daughter of Johann Philip HEYMAN and Anna Maria HINCKEL) was born 25 Feb 1766, Maxatawny Twp, Berks Co, PA; died Abt 1822, Upper Mahanoy Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. [Group Sheet]

  2. 5.  Christina HEYMAN was born 25 Feb 1766, Maxatawny Twp, Berks Co, PA (daughter of Johann Philip HEYMAN and Anna Maria HINCKEL); died Abt 1822, Upper Mahanoy Twp, Northumberland Co, PA.

    • _UID: FD2187ACF794432282D19824A2DFC0DE6F2B

    Notes:

I had seen other speculative ID's of who Christina was. I tried following them up
but never found anything backing them up.

Daniel's wife being a Heymanis based on:

    - the fact that the marriage record actually says Heuman in the one version (pronounced
in German"hoyman", with the meaning heu=hay. Hence the later variations Heyman,
    Hayman, Heiman, Hoyman).
    - Philip Heyman lived in Rockland according to the 1790 census. That is were
Daniel's wife was to have been from according to the marriage record
    - the sponsorship of Daniel and wf (Christina) to Joseph Heuman and also to George Lang (who married a Heuman)
    - the fact that Philip had a daughter Christina at just the right time

For more info on the Heyman family, see "Some Notes, Quotes, and Quips of
the Hoyman Clan and Related Lines by David L. Baldwin of 1645A 13th St NW,
Washington,DC 20009. At the time of the book, David hadn't ironed out the
roots of the family in Berks County. But combining records and looking at baptismal
sponsors, etc, we pieced together a pretty good version of the first generation of
    kids in Berks County.

John Klock to John Hepler, 2:244, 20 Dec 1815/24 Jan 1817, Upper Mah.
John Klock to Peter Wetzel, 2:434, 14 Mar 1816/29 Dec 1817, Upper Mah.

sp -> 1807 George Dunkelberger and Elisabeth

sp -> 1827 Jesias Geist and Elisabeth
sp -> 1828 Jacob Dunkelberger and Magdalena
sp -> 1829 Johannes Wagner and Maria Magdalena [Kramer]

This is definitely the fatherof Elizabeth Klock who married Daniel Herb since
that adminstration of John'sestate was given to the son-in-law Daniel Herb.

I wonder who were the otherchildren of John Jr. The estate of Daniel Herb
Jr (see Schuylkill Deed 109:110) mentions children:
John Smith and Judith his wife
Gideon W. Snyder and Catharine K his wife
Daniel Neishwender and Rebecca his wife
Franklin K. Herb and Lydia Ann his wife
Charles K. Herb and Magdalena his wife [heir of Charles K desc I think]
    all of Schuylkill Co
and Isaac Snyder of Northumberland Co and Elisabeth his wife
to Samuel K Herb of Schuylkill Co.

The deed goes on todescribe the John Klock land that falls to these people
(via Daniel Herb Jr) and says that the first party is selling their "six ninths" part.
So that means that with Samuel, that is only 7/9ths and there are two other
heirs to the land. I'm guessing they're the descendents of John Klock, Jr.
Possibly Peter F. Klock and John F. Klock??

Johannes married Maria Magdalena DUNKELBERGER Abt 1797, Upper Mahantongo Twp, Schuylkill Co, PA. Maria (daughter of Christopher DUNKELBERGER and Elisabeth (Betty) HILL) was born 12 Feb 1777, Little Mahanoy Twp, Northumberland Co, PA; died 15 Aug 1855, Shamokin Twp, Northumberland Co, PA; was buried St. Peter's Church, Ralpho Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

I'm still bothered by the fact that her birth date in the baptism is differentfrom
that on the tombstone. The tombstone has at St Pauls has died 15 Aug 1855,
age 77-3-3, which works out to 12 May 1778 instead of 12 Feb 1777. At least
the "12" is right, and I could take being off a year, but with the month, too, I always
have a little doubt. Still, the baptism sponsorships strongly suggest the Dunkelberger
relation. Also, someone doing the math wrong may be explainable.

A possible sceneraio is that Magdalena, who was absent in the 1850 census,
had moved up to Shamokin area with grandson Benjamin Klock. When she
died, he buried her locally and may have been off on her birth date.

4/12/00 - I found the account records for Magdalena Klock in the Northumberland
County courthouse. Isaac Snyder was the administrator (he was married to Magdalena's
granddaughter Elizabeth). Inventory was done 14 Mar 1856. Various dispersements
were made, but uncertain what happened to remainder. See Orphan's Court
    accounts 2:183

Lettersof Admin 23 Dec 1818 to Jacob and Peter Klock, Admin 1:75

From History of Northumberland County, pg 357:
KLOCKS. The first ancestor of this old family in America was Peter Klock,
a German by birth, who came to this country about 1750. His first location was
somewhere in Berks county, in the Province of Pennsylvania, according to some
in Bern township, according to others near Womelsdorf, and again in Oley
township. It is probable that the last named location is more nearly the
    correct one.

At any rate, Oley township was the homeof one Peter Kluck in
1756, on March 24th of which year the house of Peter Kluck, about fourteen
miles from Reading, was set on fire by the savages, and the whole family
killed. (Berks County History, 1909, says Peter Kluck and family, of Albany,
were killed by the Indians in March, 1756.) While the flames were still
ascending the Indians made an assault upon the house of one Linderman, in which
there were two men and one woman, all of whom ran upstairs, where the woman was
killed by a shot which went through the roof.

John Peter Klock, the ancestor of the Klocks in Northumberland county of
whom we write, was born Jan. 1, 1743, and as tradition has it that he came to
America when seven years old - this substantiates the date of 1750 for the
emigration of Peter Kluck, whom the Indians killed. Rupp's History makes the
statement that the "whole family was killed," which is probably inaccurate, as
John Peter Klock is said to have been and undoubtedly was a son of Peter
Kluck. He died Dec. 9, 1817, aged seventy-five years, less twenty four days.

His wife, Margareda, born April 10, 1747, died April 4, 1832. They

John married Margaretha DRUCKENMILLER 1766, Upper Milford Twp, Lehigh Co, PA. Margaretha (daughter of Johan Sebastian TRUCKENMÜLLER and Catharine SCHAMBACH) was born 10 Apr 1747, Upper Milford Twp, Lehigh Co, PA; died 4 Apr 1832, Upper Mahantongo Twp, Schuylkill Co, PA; was buried Howerter's Church, Upper Mahanoy Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. will 1:148

I don't think there was a daughter Rebecca. The Rebecca in Margaretha's
will (as recorded in the will book) lists the woman Rebecca "Koch" very clearly
and she was to get the clothes. No indication she was a daughter either.

Then note in Howerter's communicant listings:
    May 29, 1819, "Rebecca Koch"
    April 30, 1821, "Rebecca Koch"

    Notes:

I'm honestly not entirely comfortable with all of this family. The linkage
to Magdalena, wife of John Klock is a little weak - probably based solely
on the baptismal sponsors which further requires saying that yes, the tombstone
birth date doesn't match the one from the baptism.

Also, the linkage to Daniel Hill seems to be based on him having a Betty
Dunkelberger in his will, and Christopher Dunkelberger and wife Elisabeth
    - last explicitly named in 1784 at Himmel. Latter records show only Christopher D.
and wf. Also note that in Floyd's book on Northumberland County, under the Ferster
family, he has Eva wife of Christopher (the other Christopher 1-42- well documented) but
also a Catharine wife of Christopher Dunkelberger. who is that?? Probably OK
overall though, but these loose ends need wrapped up.

From Floyd's History ofNorthumberland County, pg 49:
Early members of the Dunkelberger family (probably sons of John
Sr. and of Frederick) were David, Joseph, Samuel, Solomon, John and
Daniel (who was lame). The following Dunkelbergers were mentioned in
the first assessment list of Little Mahanoy township in 1814: John,
Frederick, Christopher, Christopher, Jr., and Philip.

Christopher Dunkelberger, who died in Little Mahanoy township in
1835, made his last will and testament (on record at Sunbury courthouse)
Feb. 12, 1834, and it was probated March 2, 1835. He made ample
provision for his "beloved" wife Catharine. Items of the will: She
shall have two cows, two beds and their beddings, privilege of the
house, and of one horse to ride when she wants to go abroad. Their
children: Abraham (received the homestead, cattle, sheep and swine),
Susanna, Catharine, Ester, Salomey, Elizabeth, Henry, Daniel, Magdelina,
    John, Peter, Hannah.
