    Notes:

doesn't appear to be in 1830 census when the Conrad's were called out with their
parent's names, suggesting he left the area.

(note that Peter gave him the farm he was living on in 1837 - where was it?)

    Daniel 13, Samuel 9, Solomon 17, Sarah 7, Isaac 4

Note: several people show John as being born in 1802 and a son of Jacob Jr.
I believe he belongs here and that the age in the 1850 census is correct.
The John, s/o Jacob Jr went west with his brother Christian.

same page, Frederick Stinebrook and Catharine his wife sell land to Valentine Miller.

Peter bought land from Alexander Hunter in 1804 (deed M:398)

Henry Conrod and wf Mary sold land to Valentine Hanabaugh. Mentions that
Peter Conradand Madelina sold land to Henry in 1812. Land is by heirs of

From History of Northumberland County, pg 705:
Of a later date is the will of Peter Conrad, Senior, pioneer, who
lived in Augusta township Northumberland county, and whose wife was
Magdalena. He evidently died advanced in years, and his will, made May
30, 1837, was probated June 12, 1837. The children were: Jacob, John,
Henry, Christian, David; Daniel (obtained homestead), Catharine (Mrs.
Wagner, deceased), Magdalena (married Samuel Kreager), Elizabeth (Mrs.
Kreidinger, who lived in French Creek, Crawford Co., Pa.) and Mary (Mrs.
    Barger).

######################## OLD NOTES (now know she's a Steinbruch!)
My Dad has Peter's wife listed asa Krieger, but he can't remember the source. I
can't find any Krieger's in the area at the time and find the claim dubious. My
    guesses would include:

    - the people Peter had land dealings with - Hunter, Stinebrook, etc
    - his neighbor and friend George Savage or his wife as a relative of hers
    - she might bea sister of Peter's sibling's spouses. ie, Long, Hall, etc.

Since the son Daniel used the middle initial "P", one might guess it was for the
mother's maiden name (like common German usage at the time)

Some people have him as "Peter Christian Conrad". I've seen no contemporary
references to him by that name. It looks to me like someone tried
merging this Peter Conrad with a different Christian Conrad?

Peter married Magdalena (Mattena) STEINBRUCH Abt 1790, Augusta Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. Magdalena (daughter of George Frederich STEINBRUCH and Catharine UNKNOWN) was born Abt 1772, Berks Co, PA; died Aft 1837, Rockefeller Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. [Group Sheet]

Note that Jacob and some of his kids signed theirnames "Conrath". The spelling
settled on "Conrad" after the second generation.

note - Jacob was in the Reading area before going to Augusta (see notes on
Nicholas). And Jacob Jr was baptized in Reading in 1765. Not in 1767 tax list.

Any relationship between Jacob Conrad and Frederick Hill? They bought
land next to each other at around the same time. Did they live nextto
each other in Berks? Adjoining land is shown on map of Warrnt C-21, pg 192.

Is this the same Jacob? Jacob Conrad application for 100A, Tulpehocken,
Berks, 5 Aug 1765, ES-54 (Jacob of Tulp is probably different, see below)

(1773 is last entry for a Jacob in Oley. However, one also starts in Tulp in 1774.)
(it's not clear who the Jacob Conrad in Tulp was. In 1785, he's listed as a non-resident, suggesting that Jacob lived somewhere else but payed taxes onland
    owned there).

(Jacob of Tulp signed will of Adam Diefenbach, 1772, asJacob Conrad).

    Notes:

the name Anna Catharine is from the baptism at Reading (since Catharine would
be short for Anna Catharine in the German naming convention). She's mentioned
as just Catharine in 1799 deed.

Catharine signed by the mark "T" on deed L:122 of 1799 when
selling land to their daughter Susanna.

Jacob sold land to Nicholas Shipman in 1805 without his wife's signature, so
presumably she had died by then.

Someone sent me this (need to check my email inbin for source). Not sure if
    it will match up:

"One thing he had was a maiden name for Jacob's wife. He has her as Anna Catharin Hinsberger with a question mark following the name. I don't know if he means the spelling maybe wrong or the entire name. She is listed as dau. of Georg Hinsberger and Elizabeth. He also has a father for Jacob, Peter which could be a good guess given how often Peter turns up in the early Conrad ancestors. He has Peter and Jacob being from Prussia."

A place on the net has this Jacob Conrad m Catharine Hinsberger, child Anne-Marie

    Notes:

since George Friedrich was baptized in 1742, Jacob was obviously here
pretty early - before 1742 (plus about a year for courtin')

Captain Wetherhold made a list on Dec 27, 1757 of all the people killed and taken
prisoner by the Indians west of the Lehigh river, in the townships of Lynn, Heidelberg,
and Albany, which totaled 56 persons killed and 10 taken prisoners. In this list
under the date Novemeber 1756, is given the name of Jacob Staynbruck as
killed and Boldis Yeager's daughter taken prisoner.

An account of this occurence was brought to Bethlehem, November 30th, 1756, that
"john Holder came here this Evening, ye 28th Inst. Three Indians Came to the House
of a Certain Man Named Schlosser, and Nockt at the Door, the People within called
who is there?Answer was made, A good Friend; they within not Opening the Door,
they Nockt again, they within Answer'd Who is there? No answer being made from
Without, Then one of the Men Named Stonebrook, Lookt out of the window, when an
Indian Discharged a gun and kill'd him on the Spot. They then open'd the Door, the
Woman and two children Endeavoring to Escape, and the Indians pursued and took
Both Children; One of the Men Fired at the Indians, and Saw One of them fall, when
one of the Girls he had possession of, made her Escape from him, but the other they
took away; the Indian Y't was fired at which fell Cryed out very much, but in a Short
time he got up and made off.

The above Holder informs me he had this Acco't from good authority, said Schlosser's
    house is situated in Allemangle.

One would think that Jacob would have had more children between 1749 and 1756 with
his new young wife. Perhaps they were daughters and escape detection?

the immigrant Steinbrüchel? is that this Jacob? But mine wasalready over here.
