In the Conrad plot is a Parker Grub, 22 Nov 1890-8 Feb1891, buried 9 Feb at Pomfret Manor. Also recorded in Henry's Bible. Perhapsa child of daughter Margaret?? (her father dec'd and she was 19 years old). but Henry's will of 1895 calls her Margaret Conrad, and she's living at home then. That would also match the fact that a cousin thought Parker buried in the Conrad plot was "Aunt Maggy's child". Or perhaps an illigimate child of one ofthe sons??

    Our Lively County Seat

Sneak thieves entered the kitchen of Henry B Conrad's residence,on 435 Fairmont Ave, East Sunbury, Tuesday night. They stole several coats, apair of shoes, cakes and a few other articles. Charles Barnhart's house on Reagon St was also entered the same night and a number of articles were carried off. It is thought that the same thieves committed both robberies.

1850 census, Lower Augusta Twp, Henry, 53,farmer, $2000, Christiana 59,
    Samuel 19 farmer, Benjamin 17, Susanna 26

(who is Susanna? I doubt a daughter based on estate records. Rather, it's
likely a child of a sibling/cousin helping out.
Notice out of order ages, as in kids listed first, then others).

Christiana's land was passed on to Henry (Harry) B. and Benjamin B.
    See Deed book TT:373.

1827 poor tax, $45 or $2.68 (probably the latter)

sp - 1819 Peter Conrad and Juliana Wilhelm (wf is Catarina !?)
sp - 1829 John Zimmerman and Magdalena

The reasons for placing Henry here are:
    - Henry fits here age wise (consider Peter's will to mention kids inage order)
    - Henry died owning the same land described as given from Peter tohis son Henry
    in Peter's will
    - the 1830 census record for Henry, s/o Peter, match this Henry's family (while others don't)
    - the 1820 census (Jr) probably refers to "Younger" in this case, not s/o Henry
    - Henry the elder (s/o Jacob Conrath) had a son Henry born much later
    - Henry doesn't fit in to the otherfamilies

So I have no doubt he is the son of Peter Conrad

Note how old Henry and Christina are when they are married. Perhaps she or both were marriedbefore? But the estate records don't seem to show any other decendents.

Probably a daughter also. At Stone Church "daughter of Henry Conrad, stillborn,
    died/buried 18 aug 1827"

I still see a daughter Susanna showing up as a child of Henry. But she's not mentioned in the estate records, so I doubt that the Susannah from the 1850 census is a daughter of his. Especially the part where Susannah married Daniel Zartman. Daniel shows up in the estate records when Henry died, but as an unbiased neighbor when checking the property. If he was really a son-in-law, he wouldn't be unbiased and wouldn't be evaluating the land for his brothers-in-law. If he did marry Susannah, and she was a Conrad, shewasn't a daughter of Henry. - note - found Susanna Conrad w/o Daniel Zimmerman, buried at Lantz, 8/1/1817 - 6/6/1901 (still not a d/o of Henry in my opinion)

Henry married Maria Christina BASTIAN Bef 1820, Augusta Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. lived in Augusta township Northumberland county, and whose wife was

30, 1837, was probated June 12, 1837. The children were: Jacob, John,
Henry, Christian, David; Daniel (obtained homestead), Catharine (Mrs.
Wagner, deceased), Magdalena (married Samuel Kreager), Elizabeth (Mrs.
Kreidinger, who lived in French Creek, Crawford Co., Pa.) and Mary (Mrs.
    Barger).

######################## OLD NOTES (now know she's a Steinbruch!)
My Dad has Peter's wife listed asa Krieger, but he can't remember the source. I
can't find any Krieger's in the area at the time and find the claim dubious. My
    guesses would include:

    - the people Peter had land dealings with - Hunter, Stinebrook, etc
    - his neighbor and friend George Savage or his wife as a relative of hers
    - she might bea sister of Peter's sibling's spouses. ie, Long, Hall, etc.

Since the son Daniel used the middle initial "P", one might guess it was for the
mother's maiden name (like common German usage at the time)

Some people have him as "Peter Christian Conrad". I've seen no contemporary
references to him by that name. It looks to me like someone tried
merging this Peter Conrad with a different Christian Conrad?

Peter married Magdalena (Mattena) STEINBRUCH Abt 1790, Augusta Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. Magdalena (daughter of George Frederich STEINBRUCH and Catharine UNKNOWN) was born Abt 1772, Berks Co, PA; died Aft 1837, Rockefeller Twp, Northumberland Co, PA. [Group Sheet]

BENJAMIN F. BASTIAN, of Sunbury, who carries on an up-to-date bakery on
Eckman avenue, between Line and Race streets, was born July 31, 1868, inUpper
Augusta township, Northumberland county, son of Matthias D. Bastian. Heis a
member of the fourth generation in that township, being a great-grandsonof
George Michael Bastian, who founded the family there, and from whom we give the
    family record.
George Michael Bastian [Jr] was a native of Northampton county, Pa., born March
13, 1768, and died Feb. 18, 1845, in Upper Augusta township, Northumberland
county, where he had followed farming, having a 200-acretract known (and so
called in the deed) as "White Lily Garden Farm." He and his wife died on that
place, and they are buried in the old cemetery at Sunbury. Her maiden name was
Susanna Bollender, and she was born Oct. 7, 1770, in Greenwich township, Berks
county. Their children were as follows: Jesse lived in Sunbury; Peter died at
Milton, Pa.; Daniel is mentioned below; George died in Sunbury; Catharine
married John Renn and they lived in Sunbury; Christianna married Henry Conrad
and they lived in Rockefeller township; Rachel married John Sinten and they
lived at Alaska, this county; Elizabeth died unmarried, in Rockefeller; Lucy
married Jeremiah Zimmerman and died in Shamokin, Pennsylvania.

From public records in the courthouses at Sunbury and Lewisburg has been
taken the following information, which is here given not only as being of
interest in this connection, but also as it has considerable bearing upon the
spelling of the name, which seems to have been written Bastian from the time the
records begin, in 1791, with two exceptions. Both these times it was found
written Bostion, but it must be noted that on one or these two occasions the
    signer made his mark.

In the year 1809 (George Michael Bastian, Jr., gave a mortgage to Lewis Dewart
and it is signed George Michael Bastian.
    ...
On May 10, 1819, George Michael Bastian, Jr., sold the above 176 acres to
Lewis Dewart; he signed his name in German and it is written George Michael
Bastian, and his wife Susanna Bastian signed by mark, her name being written the
same way. On the same day and year Lewis Dewart sold to George Michael Bastian
300 acresin Augusta township about three miles Southeast of Sunbury; in the
body of this deed the name is written Bastian. On May 15, 1841, George Michael
Bastian, Jr. sold to Henry Gass 76 acres of land in Augusta

George married Susannah BOLLENDER Abt 1789, Allen Twp, Northampton Co, PA. Susannah (daughter of George Henrich BOLÄNDER and Anna Catharina LEIBY) was born 7 Oct 1769, Greenwich Twp, Berks Co, PA; died 21 Jan 1864, Rockefeller Twp, Northumberland Co, PA; was buried Spruce St Cemetery, Sunbury, Northumberland Co, PA. Notes:

Martin Bernheisel was her guardian (also over sister Elisabeth) (Martin was
married to Christina Marg. Wirth abt 1760)

I feel pretty confident that Susanna really fits into Henry's family and not the Adam Bollender
family. It appears that Susanna married George Michael around/before 1790, when
the family was still in Northampton County. Since Susanna had inlaws there (the
Lilly and Wenner families), she could have been at the Stone Church. In fact, the
baptismal sponsor to a Lilly there, (Susanna Bolarm 1788) seems to be her - there were
no families named Bolarm or anything similar anywhere in the area (the state) at that
    time.

Further, the timing of Adam's kids would mean that she was sandwiched in between
two other known children with less than a year between each of the 3 births which
would be unusual. And there are no records anywhereconnecting Susanna to
that family. Only Fisher's speculation based on proximity.

Floyd's History of Northumberland County states that Susanna was from Greenwich
Twp, Berks County. He doesn't elaborate to indicate that he had found this out
from his own research. He does discuss a descendent, living at thetime of his
book, named Matthias D. Bastian, born in 1838 who would have known his grandmother
who died in 1864. In fact, Mathias and his father Daniel are listed right next to Susanna's
household in both the 1850 and 1860 census.

It seems likely that Matthias could have confirmed the stated location of
his grandmother's birth or even provided the information. If Floyd's account of her being
born in Greenwich Twp is then to be believed, Henry Bollender is theonly possible
candidate. And since he is shown to have had a daughter named Susanna, born
at about that time (confirmation in 1785), I believe these are her parents.

And one other way to decide which is the "right" Bollender family - two of Henrich
Bolander's other daughters married first cousins of GM Bastian Jr: one married
Jacob Lilly who's mother was a Wenner, and one married GM Wenner, son of
Andreas Wenner (and GM Bastian's mother was the sister Magdalena Wenner). So it's not
that unlikely that he could have met Susan.

Note that in the Orphans Court records of Berks Co, 4 Mar 1785, Susanna can't
write and signs by an X. Susanna also signs with an X on the deed of 1843,
Northumberland County, deed DD:78 (though of course, they don't show the
original 'X' and it would be hard to match 'X's that many years apart!)

the name Anna Catharine is from the baptism at Reading (since Catharine would
be short for Anna Catharine in the German naming convention). She's mentioned
as just Catharine in 1799 deed.

Catharine signed by the mark "T" on deed L:122 of 1799 when
selling land to their daughter Susanna.

Jacob sold land to Nicholas Shipman in 1805 without his wife's signature, so
presumably she had died by then.

Someone sent me this (need to check my email inbin for source). Not sure if
    it will match up:

"One thing he had was a maiden name for Jacob's wife. He has her as Anna Catharin Hinsberger with a question mark following the name. I don't know if he means the spelling maybe wrong or the entire name. She is listed as dau. of Georg Hinsberger and Elizabeth. He also has a father for Jacob, Peter which could be a good guess given how often Peter turns up in the early Conrad ancestors. He has Peter and Jacob being from Prussia."

Note: Just *how* did they meet to getmarried since the Bastian's were in Montgomery
County while the Wenners in northern Berks. Nicholas Wenner does come down to
Montgomery Co once to be a sponsor to his daughter, but I'm still curious how they met.

sp (Jacob Faust and Catharine Leiby) -> 1750 to Valentine Gerhart and wf (I think
    the records were reversed here)
sp (Henry w/ Anna Catharine Leiby) -> 1751, Peter Kartin and wf

sp - 1756, George Breiner, a tailor, and Anna Maria Hattinger, single (Hatinger?)
sp- 1757, Jacob Kuntz and Anna Margaretha (note - 1756 at 1st Ref Lancaster?)
sp - 1759, Johannes Kuntz and Maria Magdalena Wirth
sp - 1764, Henrich Schwenk and wf Barbara [Wirth]
sp - 1767, Henrich Rausch and Catharine, single d/o RevMischler
sp -> 1775, George Nicholas Wenner and Anna Maria [Bollender] (at Jordan Ref Church)
(note: Wirth daughters are d/o Jacob of Greenwich)

I believe the fact that Henry shows up with Anna Catharina Leiby shortly before
the birth of their first child (and Anna Catharina - having both names match -
seems to increase the odds that it wasn't entirely by chance). And Anna Catharina
is shown from the ship list to be just the right age. Others have believed the baptismal
record that Anna Catharine married Jacob Faust, and then she disappeared and
he remarried someone else. But I think the baptismal record is either recorded
or transcribed wrong. In most of the records, they are of the form (a typical
format) Child of Father and wf, date, Sponsors: "Person and wf"or "Single
Person and Single Person". Since the child was named for a sponsor in other adjacent
records at Dunkels, so here, it would be more likely to have Catharine being named after
the sponsor Catharine Leiby and the Gerharts asthe parents. The records in my translation
    are:

"Catharine of Jacob Faustand Catharine Leiby, bapt. December 14, 1750. Sponsors:
    Valentine Gerhart and wife."
"John Henry of Peter Kartin and wife, bapt. November, 1751. Sponsors: John Henry
    Bollender and Anna Cath. Leiby."

The quality of other known family names in the Dunkel's Church records also calls into
question the quality of these records. Only a search of the originals would really show the answer. But I believe enough is shown to question the simple notion regarding Anna Catharine marrying Jacob Faust (and then showing up single in 1751 with Henry
Bollender). This hunch really needs to find some association at least between the
Bollender family and the Leiby's (in sponsors or something...) Until then, this is just
    speculative.

Henry's admin records (original records, and Berks Gen Soc Journal, 18:1, pg 12)
    widow Catharine (1785)
    John,
    Henry, (minor)
    Anna Margaret w/o Zacharias Haller/Holler
Anna Maria w/o George Michael Wenn
    Catharine w/o Jacob Lilly
Magdalena since intermarried with Jacob Sander (BCGS says Sauder)
Christina since intermarried with George Heilman
    Elizabeth and Susanna (minors)

indicates the 180 acres was near the blue Mountain in Greenwich Township...

Note - since Henry died young (46) in 1775, I wonder if it was related to the Revolutionary
    War.

George married Anna Catharina LEIBY Between 1751 and 1752, Greenwich Twp, Berks Co, PA. Anna (daughter of Friederich LEIBY and Maria Magdalena UNKNOWN) was born 13 Sep 1732, Steinsfurt, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany; died Aft 1784, Greenwich Twp, Berks Co, PA. [Group Sheet]

  8. 15.  Anna Catharina LEIBY was born 13 Sep 1732, Steinsfurt, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany (daughter of Friederich LEIBY and Maria Magdalena UNKNOWN); died Aft 1784, Greenwich Twp, Berks Co, PA.

Her being a Leiby is still speculative. See notes under other individuals.

LDS says it's the birth date (or really baptism?)

? did widow Catharine remarry to John Schudy/Tschudy/Zudy?? or
    is this daughter Elisabeth Catharine?
