Notes:

WWII Navy veteran, two tours of duty. Stationed in the South Pacific for most of his Navy career as a Machinest Mate.
He earned a BS in Engineering and stared a Masters Degree at the Univeristy of Southern California.
He was an engineer for the Navel Underwater Ordinance Test Station of Pasedena, California for more than 35 years. After retirment he became a realestate broker.

Charlcie Everhea (pronounced "Everee") was born in Tennessee on April 27, 1925 to Oda Ray and Hester Viola LaFollette Smith.
She and her husband, Willard Harding Yoder, had 3 children. Their first child was a son they named Willard, who was born in TN. They then had a daughter, Nancy Anne and another son, Mark Douglas, both born in CA.
Charlcie and Willard made their home primairly in Arcadia, Los Angeles County, CA, although they spent two years in Glen Avon, Riverside Co., CA.
She was diagnosed with cancer in her early 30's. Charlcie died at Arcadia Methodist Hospital, Arcadia, CA on Nov. 25, 1961. She was buried at Rose Hills, Whittier, CA.

Grandpa Yoder had the most amazing collection of tools, wenches, torches which were the envy of any mechanic. He was always in the garage fixing or making something. He was never idle. even at 85 years old he worked for the town of Glen Avon California as the public water mechanic-engineer. His sons and grandsons and even a great granddaughter have inherited this innate mechanical ability. The need to know how it works, to take the gadget apart and make it better and can not rest until the problem is solved.
As a younger man he was a school teacher then a butcher and lastly a mechanic at various places. I was told by my dad that grandpa wanted all of his kids to play some sort of instrument. He bought a piano for his kids to learn but Eleanor was the only one that seemed to keep any interest in it. That tradition resulted with my three brothers Bill, Mark and Paul playing the trumpet through High School and beyond.

I remember grandma's English roses with whitish pink peddles, that intertwined her front porch trellis. Sitting out on the front porch sipping ice tea, smelling the fragrant aroma of roses, and watching the delicate white peddles float to the ground. Grandma always was canning something and storing them in the cellar. When we would arrive at grandma's, she would point to the kitchen and we would run to the bread box as she said, you kids want a pretzel?

My mother's father who I have never met. He died four years after his wife, my grandmother, Hester Viola Lafollette.They lived on the Smith Farm, and is said to be north of Sevierville, Tennessee and a little west on 141 or 411...I can't remember.
according to Sevier County records they were married in 1914. Oda was a farmer, having farmed in several counties finally in Knox Co.

Cause of death; cancer. Her beauty, strength and intelligence live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
It was said that Hester Viola was not fond of her name and adopted the nick name of "Ola", which is on several legal documents.
On the day that Viola died, she was in very ill from the cancer killing her. Aunt Audrey, Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Annie Hanson-Smith were out on the front porch waiting for the final end, when they saw a cute little lamb sort of floating outside. It turned around and hopped over a semi- transparent fence and disappeared They knew that it was Viola's spirit saying good- bye.
This same event was witnessed by three people. Although this was a farming community in Tennessee there were no known sheep or lambs in the area.

Lewis YODER attended Crittenden's Philadelphia Commercial College in 1865.
Lewis' grandfather George Yoder Jr and his great uncle Abraham (brother of George Jr), were the first of the Yoder's to settle in Schuylkill county, locating in what is now Eldred township. where they secured large tracts of land and engaged in farming. Abraham also built a saw and grist mill, one of the first in the county, and this mill is still standing. George Yoder married Elizabeth Reiner of Berks county, and they had six children- Mary, Sallie, Hattie, Elizabeth, William, and Charles-all now deceased.

The 1900 census said that Katie had 12 chikdren and only 9 are surving in 1900.
The 1910 census said that Kate had 14 children and only 11 were living in 1910.
As best I can make out they were:
1. James M. born in march of 1880, per the 1880 census.The 1890 census is unavailable. the 1900 census does not list him; but he may have married- he would have been 20 yrs old. Althought, the 1900 census says that Mother 'Kate' had 12 chikdren and only 9 are surving in 1900. He may have died between 1880 and 1900.

Originally from German heritage "Fux" translated into English "Fox", when Mattie's GGG-grandfather Adam Fox settled in Pennsylvania in 1750's.
then moved to Shenndoah Valley, VA, then to Sevier county, TN.
She married James at age 14! Jame was in his 30's, Mattie lived to ripe old age living with her son Oda Ray and daughter in law Hester Viola Lafollette, on the Smith farm. the Smith farm is said to be north of Sevierville, Tennessee and a little west on 141 or 411...I can't remember. The 1900 census states that Martha E. has been married for 21 years and had 6 children and only 4 are still livig in 1900.
